Product placement is a marketing technique in which a brand’s products or services are in a movie or TV show. It has existed since the early days of silent films but became more common in the 1920s with the commercial rise of Hollywood. And in the 1990s, it became an art form and a key marketing strategy for many brands to build long-term relationships with clients.
Product placement differs from direct advertising in a less aggressive form of presentation and can be done in two ways:
  • The “invisible” method, in which the brand simply appears on the scene and is not mentioned. This type of placement is more effective, as it does not distract the viewer from the story and experience.
  • Explicit mention of the product in dialogues or text on the screen, which is a more intrusive and distracting form for viewers.
